Common Questions

How is Altium Develop priced?

Altium Develop uses a simple, easy-to-understand subscription model designed for small teams that value clarity and predictability. It includes three components:

  • Workspace subscription (annual): An annual subscription that activates your shared Altium Develop workspace. This is the foundation of your team environment and is all you need to get started.
  • Author seats (annual, concurrent): Add annual Altium Designer author seats on top of your workspace. Seats are concurrent — up to five authors can work at the same time per workspace tier, and the same seat can be shared across multiple engineers as long as they’re not using it simultaneously. This keeps licensing easy-to-manage and cost-efficient for lean teams.
  • Collaborators (free & unlimited): Invite unlimited collaborators at no additional cost. Collaborators can review designs, provide feedback, work with requirements, BOMs, comments, and tasks — but cannot edit schematics or layouts in Altium Designer.

This makes cross-discipline collaboration easy-to-expand as your project grows.

Is this a promotional price?

No — this pricing was designed by Renesas, Altium’s new parent company, with a commitment to making Altium more accessible than ever before, delivering big-company power at a small-company price with Altium Develop.

Do I need to buy multiple products?

No — Altium Develop includes both Altium Designer and Altium 365, so you have everything you need to design, share, and co-create in one connected environment.

What if I have more than 5 Altium Designer authors?

You can have as many Altium Designer authors as you need — the 5 limit applies only to concurrent authors. If your team shares access, then one seat can serve multiple authors. The only limitation is that simultaneous access is restricted to your region.

Can multiple engineers edit the same project?

Yes — Altium Develop is built for concurrent, multidisciplinary electronics hardware design and development. Multiple authors can co-edit projects within the same workspace.

What can collaborators do?

Collaborators (free) can review, comment, manage tasks, interact with BOMs, and create and edit requirements — everything except editing schematics or layouts in Altium Designer.

What happens if my team grows?

Simply add more author seats as you grow. If your team expands beyond 5 concurrent authors and/or you need greater control over users, processes, and data, Altium Agile Teams is the seamless next step.

Can I start small and add?

Absolutely. Start with one workspace and one author. You can add more authors and collaborators anytime without any disruption or downtime.

What is the pricing model for Altium Discover and Altium Agile, and how does it relate to Altium Develop?

Altium Develop is the entry point for individuals and small teams, offering a simple subscription model with three elements: a workspace subscription, concurrent author seats for Altium Designer, and unlimited free collaborators.

As your team scales — for example, when you need more than five concurrent authors, or you begin requiring structured workflows, compliance, advanced permissioning, or cross-discipline governance — Altium Agile becomes the natural progression path. Agile extends the same core foundation as Develop but introduces the capabilities larger organizations depend on.

Altium Agile, offered in Teams and Enterprise editions, uses a quote-based subscription model. Pricing varies based on organization size, governance requirements, and the level of structure needed to support product development at scale.
